When I read more about her, I found that her father was Edward Payson and that she had grown up in New England namely Maine, where I also grew up. We also share the same birthday!


4/5: I chose this book largely because I was interested in hearing something by Elizabeth Prentiss and I didn't fancy listening to her better known book, "Stepping Heavenward." However, I think the Librivox summary (different from the one here) led me astray in my expectations. Also, although I don't usually mind "preachy books," without the aid of that subtitle "Portrait of a Christ Centered. ELIZABETH PRENTISS ( ) was the daughter of an early nineteenth-century revival preacher and began writing as a teenager. Born in in Portland, Maine, Prentiss was also the writer of the hymn "More Love to Thee, O Christ." Prentiss died in Vermont in ELIZABETH PRENTISS ( ) was the daughter of an early nineteenth. Elizabeth Prentiss was the fifth child of Dr. Edward Payson, and was born in Portland, Maine.
